Black Nativity at Fifty-Two
Black Nativity, a cherished fifty-two year tradition in Boston, is again offered as a Christmas gift from the city’s black community to all people of “good will.” Produced by the National Center of Afro American Artists (NCAAA) since 1970, its cast of more than seventy-five children and adults never fails to lift our hearts and spirits as beautiful voices rise in praise and joy. Tens of thousands have seen Black Nativity and have come to love its energetic, gospel music and its dramatic dance. Boston’s Black Nativity, longest running in the nation, embodies the promise of hope and rebirth as well as the joy that animate our City at its best.
NCAAA was founded in Boston in 1968 by Dr. Elma Lewis to annunciate the artistic heritage and contributions of Black people to local, national and world culture. The Center is active in performing and visual arts, as well as arts teaching. To learn more about Black Nativity and the NCAAA, visit blacknativity50.org and ncaaa.org respectively.
NCAAA is a not-for-profit institution and all contributions are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
